Join the Military – Age Restrictions and Requirements

There are several things to consider if you want to join the military. If you are wondering “How old can you be to join the military?” The minimum age requirement is seventeen but this will require a parent or legal guardians permission and they must also have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, otherwise the minimum age requirement is eighteen years old to join into military service. The maximum age requirement is at the age of forty two for the Army and thirty four years old for the Navy. As the economy seems to further descend into madness many are considering the military even after thirty due to the job security factor as well as many benefits packages including health insurance and others that can help them provide for themselves and/or their families in these trying times. There is also the option for CPOL jobs as well that give high paying jobs working for the military without having to go into active duty or signing up for the military.

How old can you be to join the military? You must be at least 17 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and have parental permission to join any of the branches of the military. Without parental permission an individual must be at least eighteen years of age to join into the military. Joining the military after college has many benefits including an increased pay grade. Most who join the military after college with a four year degree will start off as an officer in the armed forces and after completing the enlistment requirements are then sent to an officer candidate school for further training and education. This training course for being an officer does require physical training, so sorry if you thought you could just sit in a chair eating donuts because you have to make all the big decisions. You will also learn the skills necessary for proper leadership to prepare you for some of the decisions you will be required to make that can affect other’s lives. It is a big responsibility but has the added advantage of making a difference in the world which is something most people don’t have the opportunity to do.
