Joining the Military with a College Degree – Is it the Right Choice?

Joining the military with a college degree gives you the opportunity to start out as an officer in the armed forces right out of the gate with higher pay and incentives.  There are even programs available that will pay off your student loans in much the same way as the Montgomery GI Bill pays for college for enlisted men.  You can start out as an officer after completing all the enlistment requirements and completing the officer candidate school that will teach the skills of leadership that are necessary for being an officer in the military since you will be making major decisions that go far beyond the normal civilian management.  In the position of officer you are responsible for many obligations and that includes the lives of the men at your charge.  Officers with no previous military experience will start out at a pay grade averaging over thirty thousand a year.  Keep in mind though that the military also offers high allowances for living expenses and other things so that pay grade money is worth more than it might be in the civilian world.  This is just the starting pay and it will increase with experience and promotion.  Promotion is competitive after the first initial jumps in rank however.  Joining the military with a college degree can be an excellent career choice and gives you the added advantage of making a difference in this life.  It is not a decision to be made lightly however and you need to consider all your options before applying.  Ask the right questions of recruiters and try to get straight answers and check with the different branches as the incentives may be better with one branch than it is with another.  Make them offer you something to make it worth your while, you are the one with the skills they want, so take advantage of that fact and see what opportunities are available.

Joining the Military with a College Degree – An Important Decision

Joining the military with a college degree can be a life changing decision so think it through and if you decide to join then you will have made an excellent career choice.  The military isn’t for everyone and requires strong and resilient people.  Once you have been through the military you will have realized your full potential in this life which is something most civilians cannot lay claim to.  By joining the military with a college degree you will have many opportunities, not only in the military world, but it can also relay into a great high paying civilian job since military duty looks good on any resume, add the rank of officer to that resume and your resume will be hard to pass up for any job or employer.
